The Murder of Jayne Thompson

On 13 June 2001, The Sun reported thus:

"A distraught husband told yesterday how his wife was killed as she tried to save him from two gunmen.

Jayne Thompson, 29, came into a living room where hubby Derek was spreadeagled... She refused to return upstairs to safety and three shots were fired, two hitting her. After the men fled he... found her slumped in a corner of the kitchen, Leeds Crown Court was told...

Shopworker Peter Pang... and debt collector Nam Hoang deny murder, having a firearm and assault.

Prosecutor Robert Smith said Pang owed Mr Thompson around £6,000 which he had borrowed to pay off gambling debts. He said Pang hatched a plot to steal £50,000 which he believed to be hidden in the house."
